A beautiful seaside town located amidst sandy cliffs between Varna and the Romanian border which has long attracted artists with its whitewashed cottages and seascapes. Balchik is perhaps most famous for the "Quiet Nest", theSummer Palace of Queen Marie of Romania and the delightful terraced Botanical Gardens. This region was part of the Romanian Dobrogea between the wars and has long been associated with the romantic Queen Marie. We offer a selection of exceptional self-catering villas in balchik together with transfers from Varna, and excursions by car and driver as required. A wide range of comfortable hotels are available together with transfers or car hire from Varna.
ALBENA
The most northerly and perhaps the nicest of the main resorts with an excellent beach backed by cliffs to the north. This resort is well-spread through wooded groves and feels more relaxing than the larger complexes at Golden Sands and Sunny Beach. Albena is within easy reach of Varna.
NESSEBUR and RAVDA
South of the high-rise sprawl of Sunny Beach are the quieter resort of Ravda, comprising smaller hotels and villas, and the historic town of Nesebur (Mesembria), a delightful cluster of wooden fishing cottages and ancient churches separated from the mainland by a narrow isthmus. Nesebur is overcrowded with tourists from nearby resorts during the height of the season but it cannot be missed. We offer small, family hotels in the old town offering a pleasant contrast to the massive package holiday hotels of the resorts to the north.
A small fishing port south of Bourgas which has been favoured by artists and writers for over a century. It possesses two fine beaches separated by a rocky promontory which supports a busy promenade with several bars and restaurants and the older, picturesque part of the town dating back to the 19th century.
